PUNE: The Indian Air Force (IAF) recently conducted a student interaction programme called 'Induction Publicity Exhibition Vehicle’ (IPEV) drive in Pune as part of its nationwide awareness programme.
The IAF’s Directorate of Induction and Selection in a Holistic Approach (DISHA) cell at the Air Headquarters in Delhi conducts such across the country for induction of recruitment and encouraging the youth to join the Indian Armed Forces.
To bring out various facets of the IAF to the target group, DISHA has developed the IPEV.
"It is a Volvo bus based platform with a flying simulator and other gadgets, aimed at motivating the target group towards IAF as a career," an IAF release stated.
The drive was flagged off from Delhi on October 14. In Pune, the campaign started from November 6 at the College of Engineering Pune (CoEP). Representatives from city colleges have been invited to attend the publicity campaign.
"The drive was conducted at CoEP, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Sinhagad College of Engineering and Symbiosis University, SLS campus in Viman Nagar. The drive continued in Pune till November 9 and large number of students from different colleges participated in it," the release stated.
"The awareness drive got a very positive response across the country. The students got to know first-hand information about the force in detail. All their doubts regarding the force and entries were addressed by the serving airmen," said an IAF officer, who didn't wish to be named.
