Top 10 Tech Deals Of The Week: iPad Pro, Google Nest, Dyson And More

Black Friday is a memory and Cyber Week has come and gone. That doesn't mean you still can't snag some impressive deals on great tech items. And not just any items, but the Apple iPad Pro, Google Nest Hub, Dyson V11, Garmin Fenix 5, and more.

Here are the top ten tech deals I've found for this second week of December.

Under Armour True Wireless Flash by JBL

The JBL UA True Wireless Flash remain one of my favorite wireless earphones that I've tested this year. The new Nest Hub controls your smart home, gives you visual updates on your day ahead, displays video from connected security cameras, streams music, conducts web searches, and a lot more with the power of Google Assistant. As much as people use Google almost exclusively for search and directions, there's a huge chunk of personal data that the Nest Hub can leverage to improve and personalize its responses. After all, Google knows where your hairstylist is and how long it'll take to get there, or what traffic looks like along your favorite route to work. It also makes a stellar digital picture frame as well, finding photos in your library that work well with the season. My favorite trick of the Hub's is when it finds two photos of my kids, one from years ago and a current one, and puts them side by side. It's a bit of algorithmic magic that makes me like the device even more. This deal from Walmart lets you get even more by throwing in a next-gen Nest Mini. Getting one of the best smart speaker assistants on the market for free (the Mini is $35 on its own) makes this a stellar deal. 

Dyson V11

The Dyson V11 is the latest in a long line of cordless vacuums from Dyson that converts to a stick vac with a rotating brushhead. It has more suction power than ever before (40% more than the V8). What's makes the Dyson V11 upgrade-worthy though is its intelligence. It senses whether you're vacuuming on a hard or soft surface and adjust the suction accordingly. And you'll be glad that it does, because turning the vacuum on to full suction and then trying to roll it over a hardwood floor is an instant workout. It picks up as much dirt as a full-sized Dyson vacuum cleaner, if not more. The handy LCD on the back of the unit tells you what suction mode you're in and how much runtime you have left. Change from Eco to Boost and the battery image changes from green to red and you'll see your runtime drop exponentially. That LCD will also walk you through maintenance tasks when there are airway clogs and remind you when it's time to clean the permanent filters. If you liked the idea of the Roborock S4 I wrote about on Black Friday, but wished it had something a little extra, then you'll love this deal. You have to be extra-vigilant in the app, the last thing you want is for the S5 to keep mopping on a carpeted surface. Google Nest Hello + Free Google Hub

The Google Nest Hello is a smart doorbell you'll be happy to install. Not only does it send alerts to your phone when someone rings the bell (and displays live video), it's smart enough to know when someone is lingering outside your door without ringing. You can chat with visitors through the doorbell's speaker right from your phone. In all, it's the perfect start to a more secure home. The doorbell is $229 at Target right now, which is actual retail price, but when you throw in a free Nest Hub, that's a much better bargain. 

JBL Clip 3

If you're looking for the most portable, kid-friendly speaker out there, the JBL Clip 3 is the only option you need to consider. This waterproof Bluetooth speaker can pump out 10 hours of tunes with surprising clarity. It's a little bigger than you'd think, but not so much as to be obtrusive. It comes in a wide variety of colors, which is good, because the integrated carabiner allows you to easily clip it to a backpack or gym back...whatever's handy, really. It's a fashion accessory and a powerful speaker. Target has it on sale right now for $39.99.

Fenix 5 Plus

Garmin makes amazing multi-sport watches and the Garmin Fenix 5X Plus is one of their best. With a built in triathlon mode, plus multi-day battery life, you don't have to worry about the Fenix 5 Plus leaving you stranded in the middle of the race. Garmin uses a robust, multi-network tracking system that includes GLONASS and Galileo satellites in addition to the usual GPS. Allowing it to provide routing suggestions and help keep you on track. The pulse oximeter and wrist-based heart monitoring keep an eye on stress levels and track your sleep and recovery so that you can make sure your training is staying effective. It's like having a trainer strapped to your wrist 24/7. Garmin is clearing out their Fenix 5 watches right now with as much as a $150 discount on current stock. 

iPad Pro Cellular 64GB 11-inch 

The iPad Pro was recently refreshed with a larger 11-inch screen. Since it has an edge-to-edge screen design, there’s no Touch ID, instead using the Face ID of the latest iPhones. Whereas other iPads top out at 256GB or less of storage, you can get up to 1TB on the Pro (and it starts at a respectable 64GB). The iPad Pro supports my favorite mobile keyboard, the Smart Keyboard Folio. If you want to use the superior Gen 2 Apple Pencil, you’ll have to stick with the Pro, since other iPads aren’t able to charge it. The camera is the best you can get from an iPad. It can shoot 4K video and capture 12mp images. The front-facing camera supports Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting as well. The audio is better too, with four speakers to the other models’ two. The cellular model is $150 off on Amazon right now. It's a rare deal on a fantastic tablet.
