Between filming the highly-anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot and raising her two children — not to mention enjoying life as a newlywed — Hilary Duff simply doesn't have time to get sick. Luckily though, as a mom who's weathered cold season many times before, she's managed to find a few foolproof ways to ward off symptoms almost as quickly as they arise. And lucky for us, she was down to share them.

First things first, whenever Duff feels a cold coming on, she takes it easy and does her best to get as much shut-eye as she can. "Rest is half the battle, so I don't stay up answering emails or any of that stuff — I just try to sleep as soon as my kids do," she explains. She also likes to cozy up in some fuzzy socks, because as we all know, getting comfy is the ultimate form of self-care.

Another one of her favorite solutions is Zicam, a medication that contains zinc, which has been proven to shorten colds as long as you take it as soon as symptoms pop up. In fact, she's such a big fan of the brand that it tapped her to be its new ambassador for the 2020 cold season. "I've been a Zicam user for many years now — since touring, actually," she says. "And now that I split my time between the east and west coast, shooting and flying so much, along with my husband touring constantly and us both fighting off germs that our kids bring home from school, I always have it around. So when this opportunity came about, I was like, 'Yes, it's perfect,'" she explains. "I didn't even need a briefing."

Duff's go-to from the brand is the Medicated Fruit Drops. "I'm obsessed and use them all the time," she says. "I keep them everywhere."

Aside from taking those, Hilary also treats her skin to some extra TLC when she's feeling a little bit worse for wear. "I'm a big exfoliator so I always make sure to do that, and then I'm obsessed with this vegan skin-care brand called Glycelene," she says. "They make an amazing hyaluronic acid serum that I love," she adds. (For anyone interested, the Beauty Serum costs a casual $375 for 3.4 ounces.)

As one might assume, applying a full face of makeup is not exactly a priority when the Younger star is sick, though she will still curl her eyelashes to achieve a slightly more awake effect — oh, and she never forgets to add a touch of color and definition to her brows. Glossier's Boy Brow, a fave around the Allure office, happens to be her staple for this.
