COLUMBIA, S.C. – Florida freshman
Cameron Miller and its women's 4x400 relay team both posted NCAA-leading times as the Gators compiled eight times and marks that rank in the top 10 nationally to close the two-day Gamecock Opener at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex Saturday afternoon.
Miller clocked 20.81 seconds in the 200 meters, becoming the NCAA leader. The Dallas, Texas native missed a spot on Florida's incredibly deep All-Time Top 10 list by just 0.12 seconds in what was his first-ever collegiate race at 200 meters.
Fellow freshmen
Joseph Fahnbulleh and
Tyler Davis followed Miller also with national top-10 performances in the 200. Fahnbulleh crossed in 20.86 seconds, which ranks third in the country, while Davis recorded a time of 21.13 seconds that placed him at the No.7 spot on the Division I Indoor Qualifying list.
On the women's side, junior
Taylor Manson took over the No. 3 spot on the Division I Indoor Qualifying list in the 200 meters, logging a personal best of 23.59 seconds. Newcomer
Semira Killebrew, crossed in 23.77 seconds to land at the No. 7 spot in the country, while sophomore
Doneisha Anderson followed with a time of 23.78 seconds (a new personal record by 0.19 seconds), which ranks eighth nationally.
Manson and Anderson also ran the leadoff and anchor legs, respectively, as the Gators' 4x400 relay team clocked a nation-leading time of 3:34.59. The duo was accompanied by
Nikki Stephens and
Brandee' Johnson on relay duty.
Senior jumper
Clayton Brown moved into national top 10 in the high jump, finishing with a top clearance of 2.16 meters. Brown's mark is tied for 10th in the country.
The Gators return to action next weekend when they travel to Blacksburg, Va., for the Doc Hale Elite Meet.
