After a week of tough sectional games, the field for this year’s Minnesota girls high school hockey tournaments at the XCel Energy Center have been set.

Here are the brackets for the Class A(small schools) and Class AA(larger schools), along with quarterfinal game times.

Class A

11am Willmar vs. #2 Warroad

1pm Hutchinson vs. Cloquet-Esko-Carlton

6pm Luverne vs. #1 Breck

8pm #5 Rochester Lourdes vs. #4 South St. Paul

There are some fine teams in the Class A field, but the championship will likely come down to Breck vs. Warroad in the championship game for a third straight year. The two teams did not meet in the regular season. Breck is more battle-tested, regularly having the opportunity to play top AA teams in the Twin Cities, and led by Ms. Hockey finalist Olivia Mobley, the tournament is likely their’s to lose.

Class AA

11am Farmington vs. #2 Andover

1pm Roseau vs. #3 Minnetonka

6pm Burnsville vs. #1 Edina

8pm #5 Hill-Murray vs. #4 Maple Grove

Edina is aiming for their fourth consecutive state championship. Standing in their way is an Andover team that is the only team with the depth to match Edina. Last year, Andover was upset in the semifinals by a good Brainerd team. Andover returned nearly all of their key players from that team and should be able to give the Hornets a major challenge. A tough potential semifinal against Minnetonka could get in their way, however.
