Our photographer Jimmie48 is already at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, spending time with players as they prepare for the $2,643,670 tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

The star of the day was definitely Kim Clijsters, as the member of the Tennis Hall of Fame is just hours away from launching her second comeback to the sport, after a seven-and-a-half-year long hiatus. The 36-year-old Clijsters was supposed to play world No.8 Kiki Bertens in the first round on Monday, but since the Dutch has withdrawn from Dubai because of going all the way to the title today at the St. Petersburg Ladies Open, the Belgian four-time Grand Slam champion will open her comeback against Australian Open finalist Garbine Muguruza.

We have plenty of photos from Clijsters’ chats with the media, as well as those of Simona Halep, Belinda Bencic, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, and Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin.

Our photographer also attended the practice sessions of Anett Kontaveit, Elina Svitolina, Belinda Bencic, as well as Sorana Cirstea‘s 5-7 6-4 7-6(4) win over top seed Julia Goerges in Sunday’s first round of qualifying.

Keep checking back to Women’s Tennis Blog for daily updates from the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
