Chandigarh CRC asks CBSE to allow students with low attendance to sit for exams

​Authorities shared that CCPCR had received a complaint regarding non-issuing the Roll numbers to the students of Class X and XII at Government Model High School, Mauli Colony, Chandigarh and other schools of Chandigarh.

CHANDIGARH: Following complaint by parents that they have not been given roll numbers by some government schools as their attendance was short and their medical certificate was not considered, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has requested CBSE to allow all the students provisionally to sit in the examination in the interest of the natural justice of the students. CCPCR chairperson has also taken up the matter with national commission of protection of Child rights.

Authorities shared that CCPCR had received a complaint regarding non-issuing the Roll numbers to the students of Class X and XII at Government Model High School, Mauli Colony, Chandigarh and other schools of Chandigarh. The inquiry in the above said cases was held under by Harjinder Kaur, chairperson Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR)
The school authorities were summoned on Thursday and during the proceeding of the case it came to the notice of the Commission that CBSE counts the attendance of students up to first January of the academic session for class X or XII.
Principal of the concerned school also disclosed that they have sent attendance of the students only up to first day of January 2020 whereas academic sessions remained during this year up to 14th February 2020. During the proceeding of the case, the commission has also come to the notice that CBSE is not considered the medical certificate issued by the competent private practitioners in case students submit their medical certificate through their concerned head of the institutes.
After hearing all the representatives in the case and after analysis all the documents submitted before the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR), the Commission recommend to them to consider the attendance of the students up to the last day of the academic session and to consider the medical certificate issued by the private practitioner.
Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights further requested to the CBSE to allow all the students provisionally to sit in the examination in the interest of the natural justice of the students. Harjinder Kaur has also take up the matter with the Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), New Delhi and Chairperson, CBSE, New Delhi.
