FC Barcelona’s 2020-21 Home Shirt Design Is Leaked

The design of FC Barcelona’s new home shirt for the upcoming 2020/2021 campaign has been leaked.

As divulged by Footyheadlines, which almost a fortnight ago revealed details of its away counterpart, the new Nike-designed Blaugrana effort will pay homage to a historical moment in club history about to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

As illustrated above, the new jersey with a yellow collar and two red stripes on its front, back and either sleeve is a strong nod to that donned in the 2010/2011 season, when the club won their fourth Champions League title against Manchester United at Wembley in addition to La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

That itself a homage to a maiden Copa del Rey triumph in 1920 and ushering in of the Catalans’ first succesful decade, this continues a running theme communicated by the away design too.

Boasting a gold collar, cuffs, sponsor and Nike logo, completed by black shorts and socks with some gold detail, the road uniform resembles similar efforts used in 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 but is likewise a centenary tribute similar to that worn by Paulino Alcantara in 1919/1920.

The home shirt set for a May release once the Spanish domestic season has drawn to a close on the 24th, it is unknown whether Barça would be able to wear it should they go all the way to the Champions League final in Istanbul six days later.

That way, they would be able to respect the 2011 landmark - the last time legendary Pep Guardiola managed to get his hands on the iconic big-eared trophy - in the best possible fashion and hope to invoke the spirit of the era-defining Tiki-taka heroes widely regarded as one of the best club teams to ever play the game.

Edging ahead with a 27th minute opener from Pedro in the final, Wayne Rooney equalised for the Mancunians seven minutes after as the two sides headed down the tunnel tied 1-1 at half time.

Then, following the interval, a low driven shot from Lionel Messi made it 2-1 on 54 minutes before David Villa put the tie beyond doubt a quarter of an hour later to make Barça European kings once more.

Likewise with the away kit, now pushed back to a July release, the home line will come with a range of similarly-designed jackets, hats and backpacks.
