Will we go back to a BayArea that’s rife with traffic?

Re: “Coronavirus: Bay Area air quality is improving as people stay home” (Eastbaytimes.com, March 23):

It is heartwarming to see a glimmer of hope for the health of our planet in the midst of this awful pandemic and economic collapse.

The only way we can minimize suffering during this crisis is through collective action and solidarity. The same is true for climate change.

When this health crisis is over and social distancing ends, we don’t have to go back to a Bay Area that is rife with traffic and pollution. We can build upon this moment to develop sustainable infrastructure and radically decrease carbon emissions. And as we see unemployment rise and businesses close down, addressing climate change may be the only way we stave off an economic depression.
