FIH launches ‘Stay Home, Stay Strong’ initiative

April 1, 2020

As we reported here on Friday (27 March), the  international hockey community has gone to great lengths to spread the word about staying safe during the ongoing COVID-19 global health crisis, with players and fans posting and sharing thousands of great images and videos of themselves staying active whilst in isolation.

To support these wonderful efforts, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) is launching the #Stay HomeStay Strong campaign, which will serve to highlight some of the fantastic content and positive messages being shared by athletes and fans on social media, whilst also generating some exclusive new content.

The campaign will be officially launched on Thursday 2 April 2020 at 1500 Central European Summer Time (UTC/GMT+2), when England and Great Britain striker Sam Ward will be taking part in an exclusive live interview on Instagram, answering questions from the fans. As you are probably aware, Sam has been keeping everyone entertained with his brilliant #IsolationOlympics videos, creating his own ‘stay at home’ versions of Olympic sports such as Cycling, Fencing, Showjumping and most recently, Curling. If you have a question that you would like to ask Sam, you can do so on our Instagram page by clicking here. We look forward to welcoming you!

Speaking about the campaign, FIH CEO Thierry Weil said: “The messages of positivity coming from hockey athletes all around the world during this unprecedented situation is something that all of us should be very proud about. The #StayHomeStayStrong campaign is designed to build on their superb efforts, keep our wonderful hockey community united and focused on what we all need to do in order to stay fit, healthy and protect others.”
