With the shortages that have resulted due to COVID-19, many brands have been coming to the forefront to do what they can to help. Companies have converted their factories into hubs for manufacturing hand sanitizer or creating personal protective equipment for medical professionals. To join in these efforts, beauty company Beiersdorf has announced it will be using its factories to produce hand sanitizer.

Beiersdorf serves as the parent company to skin-care brands Nivea, Eucerin, Aquaphor, and Coppertone, and shared the news across three of the brands' Instagram accounts. The post expressed thanks to the health care workers who have put their lives on the line to treat patients. It also included information on the ways the company would be leveraging its resources.

In the United States, the company's Tennessee facility will be converted to produce 500,000 units of hand sanitizer. This sanitizer will be donated alongside roughly 200,000 skin-care products to health care professionals and local non-profit organizations helping out during these difficult times. An official statement from the brand states, "It’s our way of showing our deep gratitude and caring toward those who are working tirelessly to care for us all. We’d also like to thank our employees whose dedication, generosity and commitment to do all that they can, make this initiative possible."

The company's efforts don't just end here in the United States. The brand has pledged 50 million euros to help with crisis relief in five different continents. This includes donating 1,000,00 liters of sanitizer that is being produced at its factories around the world and 5,000,000 products to medical personnel. We are thankful to see the active role that these companies within the beauty industry, like Beiersdorf, have been taking during this crisis.
