Thursday open thread: Who will win the Lions’ return specialist job in 2020?

It’s still up in the air whether or not there will be football played on Sundays this fall, but what’s not a mystery is that Jamal Agnew’s job is the line.

It came out earlier this week that Agnew had participated in at least one wide receiver position meeting this offseason, and the Detroit Free Press is reporting this is a full-time change.

To me, that could spell trouble for the fourth-year player. A position change at this stage of his career is probably a make-or-break proposition.

Agnew, a former All Pro return man, struggled last season and was actually put on the bench at times in favor for Danny Amendola, who was re-signed this offseason. The Lions also drafted a return specialist in New Mexico State running back Jason Huntley.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Who will win the Detroit Lions’ return specialist job?

Right now, I’m going with Jason Huntley. The limited offseason could really hurt a late-round prospect like Huntley, but he also has a lot going for him.

For one, he had five touchdowns in college off of kick returns. So he knows how to create explosive plays.

Second, he has nice versatility on offense—catching nearly 40 passes in the last three years in college.

Third, he’s fast (4.37 in the 40-yard dash).
