Between Pride Weekend and continued support for Black Lives Matter issues, this is a weekend to celebrate togetherness even as we are living apart. So here are some ways to do just that, not to mention enjoy great movies, music and delicious barbecue.

1 SEE & HEAR: It’s Pride Weekend
All of the rainbow-colored, celebratory live events for S.F. Pride Weekend are, of course, canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but there is much to savor anyway. Chief among them is the globally renowned Frameline LGBTQ film festival, which has postponed its live events until the fall but has released some two dozen cool movies, from documentaries to love stories and comedies, for streaming this weekend (there’s even one film playing at a Concord drive-in). Here’s what to see and what you need to know. There also a bluegrass pride festival with hours of free online music and other cool S.F. Pride content to enjoy.
2 EAT: Barbecue splendors, Caribbean bites
As the #BlackLivesMatter protests continue, this is the perfect time to show our support of Black-owned businesses in the most delicious way possible. We’re speaking, of course, of Everett & Jones BBQ, Back A Yard Caribbean Grill, PLaYT and the Bay Area’s other fantastic Black-owned restaurants. Here’s a sampling of spots to get you started.
3 SIP: Livermore Valley reopens
Wineries in the Livermore Valley are re-opening at last for wine tastings and food pairings, from the fresh sips and wood-fired pizza at Dante Robere to a tour and pairings at Las Positas. Find the deets here.
4 WATCH: An addictive new series about the Golden State Killer
“I’ll be Gone in the Dark” is HBO’s new six-part documentary on one true-crime author’s relentless search for the serial killer and rapist who terrorized California in the 1970s and ’80s. The story of her obsession is plenty engrossing in its own right. The show kicks off Sunday and here is what you should know.
5 PLAY: Splashy fun
No water parks? No problem. You can DIY some splashy backyard, patio or driveway fun with a hose and a little ingenuity. Here’s how to do it. Consider it your spray-at-home order.
6 SEE: A stunning movie that’ll make you see red
Our critic says “Athlete A,” a hard-hitting look at the USA Gymnastics scandal, might just be the best documentary you’ll see all year. But it will also make you plenty angry. It tops our list of new movies to watch this weekend. And speaking of films, if you don’t want to ruin your weekend, DO NOT watch Jon Stewart’s new movie. That’s free advice.
7 HEAR: A soundtrack for our crazy times
Bay Area musicians are keeping busy during the pandemic creating songs and videos that speak to our unsettling landscape. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites.
