Coronavirus cases rising in 40 of 50 U.S. states

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. on Thursday soared to an all-time high of more than 50,000 per day, while 36 states are seeing a rise in the percentage of tests that are coming back positive for the virus, the Associated Press reported. Arizona, Texas and Florida have seen the most severe outbreaks in the past two weeks, according to data compiled by the volunteer-based COVID Tracking Project.

President Trump calls reports on Russian bounties for U.S. troops a “hoax”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped President Donald Trump for not reading his daily intelligence briefings, which indicated as early as this spring that Russia had offered bounties to Taliban militants in Afghanistan to kill U.S. soldiers over the past year, according to CNN. The White House repeatedly has denied that Trump was briefed on the matter, while Pelosi advocated having Trump “verbally” briefed in addition to being presented with documents.

Joe Biden can “hardly wait” to compare cognitive ability against Trump

At the same news conference where he took a swipe at Trump, Biden was asked by a Fox News reporter if he has been tested for cognitive decline, Axios reported.

“I’ve been tested and I’m constantly tested,” Biden said. “I can hardly wait to compare my cognitive capability to the cognitive capability of the man I’m running against.”
