SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Mayor London Breed does not have the coronavirus, she announced Thursday.
On Wednesday night, Breed revealed she had been tested for COVID-19 after potentially being exposed to a person with the virus at a recent event.
Breed said she will be tested again in a week “since we know it can take a while between being exposed and testing positive.”
I've tested negative for COVID-19. I'm continuing to follow @SF_DPH's guidance, which includes taking another test next week, since we know it can take a while between being exposed and testing positive. Thank you to everyone for the kind words and positive thoughts.

Breed said she is taking all precautions suggested by the department for those who have “moderate to low exposure” to the virus, including “practicing strict masking and social distancing practices.” She also plans to limit public events for the next 10 days.
“I know people want to be out in public right now, but this disease is killing people,” she said. “It’s simply reckless for those who have tested positive go out and risk the lives of others. I cannot stress this enough: if you test positive, it’s on you to stay home and not expose others.”
As of Wednesday, there were 30,814 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Bay Area and 625 deaths related to the virus, according to cumulative cases as reported by 10 counties in the region.
