The Green Bay Packers have high hopes for second-year guard Elgton Jenkins

"Packers are high on him. Looks like they've got a good one," an AFC executive told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "He graded high for me. Seems to have good football IQ."

Jenkins, 24, was a 2019 second-round pick by the Packers and quickly emerged as a key figure on the offensive line, starting 14 games. He had an excellent season, allowing no sacks, per Pro Football Focus

Despite being a rookie, Jenkins wasn't surprised by his early success.

"I always thought, I always knew that I could play in the NFL," he told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "I know the capability, my ability that I have, I could be a good player. It was just about putting it all together and seeing if I could do it in my first year. I felt like I went out there and performed well."

He also clearly has the mentality to play such a grueling position, saying that his favorite part of playing in the trenches was "just being able to dominate. Just being able to maul and take somebody’s will."

"I really just like playing O-line because you can clear holes," he added. "Me personally, when they’re running through your gap all the time or you’re making plays, I feel like offensive linemen are playmakers too, just in my mind."

Jenkins did well clearing holes, helping the Packers average a solid 112.2 rushing yards per game. Expectations remain high in Green Bay after the team went 13-3 last season and reached the NFC Championship Game. The continued improvement and evolution of Jenkins will be vital for the Packers offense.
