GILROY – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in an armed carjacking in Gilroy over the weekend.
The female victim was walking through a parking lot near Santa Teresa Boulevard and First Street about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when the suspect robbed her of her purse and keys at gunpoint, Gilroy police said in a Facebook post Monday. The suspect then left the scene in the victim’s white 2010 Toyota 4Runner.
The suspect was last seen traveling northbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard from First Street.
Police released surveillance images of the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a beanie, reddish zip-up hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and light-colored shoes.
In an update Tuesday, police said the Toyota had been recovered, but the search for the suspect was continuing.
“Investigating officers have exhausted all investigative leads at this time and are asking for the public’s help,” police said.
