Williams Inks Pro Deal in Slovakia

Former Gator forward signs professional contract with MBK Ruzomberok of the Extraliga league.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former University of Florida women's basketball forward Zada Williams will begin her professional career in Slovakia. The Florida native recently signed a contract to play for MBK Ruzomberok of the Extraliga league.

The 6-foot-2 forward, who earned both an undergraduate degree and a graduate certificate from UF, was a constant post presence for the Gators the past two seasons. She averaged a career-best 10.4 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds, saving her best season of college basketball for last in 2019-20.

Williams will be joining the Extraliga's top team and one of the most successful squads in Slovakia. MBK Ruzomberok posted a 19-0 record a season ago and boasted the league's two most prolific scorers in Ohla Yatskovets (17.4 points per game) and Miroslava Mistinova (16.6 points per game).

The club is located in Ružomberok which is a town in northern Slovakia.

With soft hands and masterful footwork, Williams developed into a dependable and efficient scorer during her time in Gainesville. As a senior she registered a 60.2 field goal percentage which was the second-highest single season mark in program history and highest by any senior to don the Florida orange and blue. For her career, Williams shot a blistering 54.7 percent from the field and tallied 558 points.

Williams, who hails from Lake Wales, played a key role in Florida's resurgent 2019-20 campaign in which it notched a seven-win improvement and finished .500 for the first time in four seasons.

The 2019-20 SEC Community Service Team honoree becomes the third former Florida standout to ink a professional deal this summer joining former teammates, Paulina Hersler (Battipaglia, Italian Serie A1 league) and Funda Nakkasoglu (Brydens Sydney Uni Flames, WNBL). All three played for UF head coach Cam Newbauer.
