Anaheim police are investigating whether there are any other victims tied to a man who was found with a dead woman in the back of his pick-up truck in San Diego County on Friday.

Detectives have not found evidence that other victims are out there, said Sgt. Shane Carringer, an Anaheim police spokesman. But they’re checking anyways.

“There’s nothing at this point to make us believe there are additional victims, but we believe there could be,” Caringer said. “We’re not willing to write it off.”

The mysterious death of Jessie Villesca, a 56-year-old from Anaheim, sparked the cross county investigation on Friday, when San Diego County sheriff’s deputies found her body in the back of Abdulaziz Munther Alubidy’s truck after he crashed into another vehicle in San Marcos.

As they investigated the crash scene, the San Diego County deputies somehow determined that Villesca was killed in Anaheim. Carringer would not say what the deputies learned to make them believe that.

A commander for detectives in the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said he would not comment and that Anaheim had taken over the investigation.

Anaheim police arrested Alubidy, 30, also of Anaheim, on Friday on suspicion of murder. He has not yet been charged. He’s being held without bail Orange County jail and was set to appear in court on Tuesday.

Anaheim police believe Villesca was killed near West Corporate Way and North Muller Street sometime before the crash Friday. The area features low slung office buildings and parking lots.

Because they’re looking for other potential victims, police aren’t saying how they believe Villesca was killed, or whether she was killed in a vehicle or on the street.

Police also aren’t saying how Alubidy and Villesca knew each other. But Carringer said Alubidy had previously been in contact with the woman.
