You know when the sky glows like a big bowl of peach sherbert, it’s a strange week. But now’s the time to dig into some weekend fun, and we have lots of ideas, from some San Francisco outdoor adventures and Bay Area alfresco dining (just check air quality reports before you go) to a great new TV show and a riveting look at George Gershwin.

1 WATCH: A ‘Woke’ new TV comedy

The fall TV season, in its own strange and slowly gestating fashion, is sauntering in. And one of the best new shows — the oh-so-timely comedy, “Woke” — is already available. Another, the angsty teen drama “We Are Who We Are” debuts this weekend. Here are our tips for what to watch.

2 EAT & SIP: Tip top rooftops

It’s the year of alfresco dining, all right. Shaded tables are set up everywhere — patios, sidewalks, alleys, streets, parking lots — to allow diners to eat out safely during the pandemic era. But these six hot spots take alfresco to a whole other level.

3 STREAM: George Gershwin, a Bay Area acting legend, and more

There is a bunch of cool Bay Area-centric stuff to stream this weekend — from a compelling look at George Gershwin to one of the Bay Area’s most beloved stage actors to a new movie about a famous Oakland mural. Here’s the rundown.

4 PLAY: The new-look ‘Madden NFL’ game

The pro football season starts this week, so why not celebrate by having a go at the latest version of the NFL video game named after Oakland pigskin legend John Madden? Yes, there are bugs, but the new chapter also loosens up the style of play. Here’s what you need to know about it.

5 PLAY: An S.F. Bucket List

From the city’s mosaic steps to Fort Point, Presidio trails and more, here’s an outdoor bucket list of ways to enjoy the city by the bay. Just check the S.F. air quality before you go.

6. WATCH & SIP: A boozy dance recital

Bay Area dance companies are moving their fall performances online because, well, you know why. And ODC/Dance is kicking things off today with a awesome-sounding cocktail party and streamed recital. Here’s what they and other companies have going.

7 HEAR: Wynton Marsalis’ bold new album

Marsalis is more than one of America’s finest trumpeters and bandleaders. He’s also a guy with massive ideas. And his new album “The Ever Fonky Lowdown,” available for sale and streaming on multiple sites, is about … well, better to let him explain it.
