It’s starting to sound like Katie Holmes can’t catch a break when it comes to finding a nice, uncomplicated guy to date.
Holmes’ reported new romantic interest, chef and aspiring actor Emilio Vitolo Jr. has a fiancee, the Daily Mail is reporting. Or rather, Vitolo, 33, had a fiancee and was set to marry her, but the engagement recently ended, possibly after photos emerged of him and Holmes, 41, getting affectionate outside different New York City restaurants in the past week, the Daily Mail said.
Vitolo was engaged to marry designer Rachel Emmons, 24, but a friend, who declined to to give the Daily Mail her name, said Vitolo reportedly broke up with Emmons via text, shortly before the Daily Mail published photos of him and Holmes together, kissing outside a restaurant on Sunday night.
“They had concrete wedding plans in the works,” the friend said. “Now she is just left with bad press and forced to move home.”
Emmons has not been reached for comment by the Daily Mail or anyone else, but her Instagram is filled with photos of her with Vitolo, one from as recently as six weeks ago: a sunset photo, captioned with a “love face” emoji. They look like a happy young Manhattan couple in love. There are other photos of the two kissing, dressing up for glamorous date nights, attending a Yankees game, or enjoying romantic getaways to Capri, Italy and the South of France.
“You are my favorite part of life & I will love you forever,” Emmons captioned a photo of her and Vitolo embracing, with her in an elegant black gown and him in a tux. The photo was posted more than a year ago.
In another photo from more than a year ago, Emmons and Vitolo show off a cute new puppy they have apparently adopted together. “Meet Franky!” the caption read.
In other posts from more than a year ago, Emmons refers to them becoming engaged by calling Vitolo my “future husband. Love of my life.” Another photo shows Vitolo and Emmons, hugging and smiling while standing on a pier overlooking water: “The most celebratory, generous, honest, genuine person I’ve ever met. You always have my back and make every day a new adventure. You walk into a room and people gravitate to you. I couldn’t feel more lucky to spend the rest of my life with you. @emiliovitolo.”
Over the past week, the usually private Holmes has been photographed openly enjoying al fresco date nights with Vitolo, the boyishly handsome chef who helps run his father’s popular Emilio’s Ballato restaurant in SoHo.

The “Dawson’s Creek” star was previously married to Tom Cruise, 58, until their tumultuous, high-profile divorce in 2012. Holmes and Cruise share daughter Suri, though a reported divorce settlement left her with custody, and she’s effectively been raising Suri as a single mother.
After divorcing Cruise, Holmes embarked on a six-year relationship with actor Jamie Foxx. She and Foxx, 52, went to cloak-and-dagger lengths to keep their relationship a secret and finally broke up in the summer of 2019. Foxx reportedly had “commitment” issues and was reluctant to settle down with Holmes and give up his flirtatious, bachelor ways, Us Weekly reported.
With that difficult history, Holmes has surprised many by apparently not caring about whether she is seen in public, openly showing affection for a new man. Vitolo appears to be comfortable with the celebrity lifestyle, having a number of famous friends, including Whoopi Goldberg and Joe Jonas. He also has done some acting, appearing in the TV comedies “Royal Pains” and “Inside Amy Schumer.”
Holmes and Vitolo were first photographed last week, sitting together at a table, laughing and enjoying glasses of wine. Several days later on Sunday, Holmes appeared to “confirm” the romance by letting herself be seen again with Vitolo and photographed with him at another restaurant’s outdoor table. She was sitting Vitolo’s lap and sharing a “sweet” kiss, the Daily Mail said.
The Daily Mail caught Holmes and Vitolo once more on Tuesday, again kissing and embracing outside a restaurant.
