Our Top-Rated Video-Streaming Services

A Gentleman in Moscow (Paramount+)

This book club favorite is getting the mini-series treatment on Paramount+. Ewan McGregor stars as Count Alexander Rostov, who is banished to an attic room in the fancy Hotel Metropol following the Russian Revolution. He has free rein in the hotel itself, though, where its guests provide a glimpse of the outside world.

We Were The Lucky Ones (Hulu)

Another historical fiction novel turned into a mini-series, We Were the Lucky Ones follows a prosperous Jewish family in Poland who are separated for years as the Nazis invade during World War II. As Entertainment Weekly notes, Holocaust dramas are never easy to watch, but those who do will "find it to be edifying, educational, and ultimately rewarding."

Renegade Nell (Disney+)

Louisa Harland (Orla from Derry Girls) swaps nuns for highway robbery in Renegade Nell. Framed for murder in 1705 England, Nell goes on the run. With the help of a sprite named Billy Brite, Nell fights to clear her name—and defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock: Season 2 (Apple TV+)

Introduce the kids to Fraggle Rock (or get a hit of nostalgia yourself) as season two of this reboot hits Apple TV+. This season, it seems like the fraggles are having trouble harvesting their favorite crop, radishes, so they try their hand at something sweeter.

Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later (Paramount+ with Showtime)

This documentary revisits the subjects of The Aggressives, which followed four trans men of color in the late 90s. As IndieWire notes, director Daniel Peddle wasn't satisfied with the ending of the original and aimed for a more hopeful follow-up with Kisha, Trevon, Octavio, and Chin. It debuts on Paramount+ with Showtime ahead of International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31. The original is also on the streaming service.

Lisa Frankenstein (Peacock)

If you need something to tide you over ahead of the Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice premiere, Diablo Cody's Lisa Frankenstein features a tortured teen who befriends a reanimated corpse (Cole Sprouse), and the two set off on a murderous live-laugh-love adventure.
