TL;DR:

  • What It Is: A natural deodorant made with shea butter, coconut oil, and papaya extract
  • What It Does: Refreshes the scent of underarms
  • Who It's For: Anyone looking for an aluminum-free deodorant

Despite working where I sleep (and eat and exercise), working from home does have its perks. For instance, I can roll out of bed minutes before my first meeting, wearing pajamas in Zoom meetings are far from faux pas, and adhering to a rather minimal beauty routine is the new norm. (Sorry, mascara, we're just not that close anymore.)

That said, even though I've bid adieu to a number of products I once couldn't live without (tinted moisturizer, we'll meet again, I'm sure), there's still one product I can't quite quit despite my best efforts: deodorant.

It's not that I want to stop wearing deodorant. It's just, like, what if I didn't wear it, you know? I've become perpetually lazy during my WFH period, and forgoing deodorant would just mean one less step to tackle in my morning routine — and one stride closer to enjoying my morning coffee.

But alas, with my husband's nose in mind, I continue to swipe on deodorant every morning like clockwork. My favorite lately? The Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya 24 Hour Deodorant. The coconut oil- and shea butter-based deodorant, which took home a Best of Beauty Award this year, glides onto my underams like butter, leaving behind little to no white residue.

It smells nice, too. It's a tropically scented deo with subtle hints of coconut and papaya but isn't overpowering. In fact, the creamy formula dries down within seconds, and aside from random whiffs of coconut, I barely notice I'm wearing it throughout the day.

So, in a way, I guess I did kind of quit deodorant during the pandemic: I found a formula so refreshingly subtle it's like I'm not even wearing it.
