BTech academic session 2020-21 to begin from December 1

Hyderabad: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday extended the commencement of the academic session of first-year engineering courses session to December 1 for the academic year 2020-21.
The commencement of classes is extended by a month in the latest revised academic calendar. The council has also extended the last date to complete the admissions until November 30.
“Due to prolonged emergent conditions in the country and requests from various state governments and ongoing admission process in IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and NITs (National Institute of Technology), the council has extended the last date of admission to first-year engineering courses (UG and diploma lateral entry) to November 30. Accordingly, the last date of commencement of classes of the first year is December 1,” read a circular released from the council.
The council has also directed all the AICTE approved institutes/universities to follow the University Grants Commission’s revised guidelines on examinations in view of Covid-19 pandemic. As per the council’s instructions, classes can be started in online/offline or blended mode by following the prescribed protocols related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In July, the AICTE had issued a revised academic calendar after UGC issued exam-related guidelines on July 6 for all the universities. The council then said that classes for technical courses including BTech will not start until October 15. In August, the council further revised the academic calendar where it stated that the last date of commencement of classes for technical courses would be November 1.
