Thursday Night Football is back on Thursday night! After an odd week in which Bills and Chiefs faced off on Thursday Night Football on Monday night, the schedule has returned to normalcy. Unfortunately, the only thing uglier than the NFL’s scheduling might be these two teams.
The Eagles and Giants are both in contention for the NFC East division title, and that is a stunning statement to make about a 1-4-1 team and a 1-5 team. The NFC East is a disaster with no clear front runner, with the Cowboys leading the division at 2-4 and no Dak Prescott. The Giants and Eagles are ranked 30th and 31st per DVOA, respectively. Injuries are at the forefront of this match between two bottom-tier teams.
If you are a Philadelphia Eagle, odds are you have been on the injury report at least once this season. A depleted roster has led to the likes of Travis Fulgham to step up for Carson Wentz. With Zach Ertz and Miles Sanders out for multiple weeks, it could prove to be a difficult season for the Eagles.
Thankfully, the Giants are also in a sorry state. Losing Saquon Barkley is a significant loss for the offense, and neither his replacements nor Daniel Jones have been able to find consistency. Darius Slayton is arguably one of the lone bright spots for the team, but even he has had some quiet outings.
