UMC fined US$60 million to settle trade secret case

Taiwan-based foundry house United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has disclosed it has resolved a trade secret case brought against it by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), pleading guilty to one count and agreeing to pay a US$60 million fine.
