The Green Bay Packers have officially booked their ticket to the playoffs while also taking home the division crown with a win over the Detroit Lions and a loss by the Minnesota Vikings to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Packers came into this season on a down note, as Aaron Rodgers had one of his worst seasons of his career in 2019 and then didn’t get much help in the draft, as the team went quarterback and running back with their first two picks. But so far, none of that has mattered. Rodgers has been his old self this season as he and head coach Matt LeFleur have found common ground in their offense.
The Packers are now 10-3 with their three losses coming against the Buccaneers, Vikings and Colts. And their only awful showing was the loss to the Buccaneers, where Rodgers wasn’t on his game. But Rodgers is now up to a lofty ratio of 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions. And with Patrick Mahomes throwing three interceptions in Miami today, the MVP race got a little bit closer.
The Packers are very much in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, as they beat the Saints early in the season and the Philadelphia Eagles just upset the New Orleans Saints. That puts Green Bay and New Orleans tied in the overall NFC standings at 10-3, but the Packers own the head-to-head tiebreaker and the No. 1 seed for now.
Green Bay’s schedule moving forward has them facing the Panthers and then Titans at home and then they finish the season against the Bears in Chicago. The Titans will be the real test of the three. The Saints on the other hand, get Kansas City at home next week, then the Vikings at home and they finish things off against the Panthers on the road. That is a good set up for Green Bay to keep the No. 1 seed and have the only playoff bye week in the NFC.
