MARTINEZ — Contra Costa prosecutors charged a Bay Point man with murder Wednesday in connection with a Jan. 18 shooting in his town of residence.
Jerome Goodwin, 27, was charged with murdering Tresylan Shelton III, 42, of Pittsburg, who was shot and killed on the 2100 block of Willow Pass Road in Bay Point. Police have not disclosed the suspected motive.
Goodwin, arrested over the weekend, is set to be arraigned in Contra Costa Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. In the meantime, his bail is listed at $2 million.
The murder charge carries an enhancement alleging Goodwin “knowingly and intentionally” used a firearm to kill Shelton. If he’s convicted, the enhancement adds 25 years to his potential sentence.
According to the charging records, Goodwin was on probation for a 2016 drug sales conviction at the time of the killing.
