WWE NXT advertised the women’s Tag Team Championships on the line as Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler took on Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch and a live appearance from LA Knight.

Last week’s broadcast of WWE NXT was up with 734,000 viewers compared to 831,000 for AEW Dynamite.

WWE NXT Results—Wednesday, March 3, 2021

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch def. Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher

This match meant Timothy Burch and Co. were going head-to-head against Shaq. AEW can’t move off Wednesday nights fast enough.

Whenever people get around to watching this match after seeing Shaq’s debut, they’ll be treated to a very fun match.

Roderick Strong Brawls with Finn Balor

Roderick Strong has quietly developed into a halfway decent promo.

I’m looking more forward to Roderick Strong vs. Finn Balor than another match between Finn Balor and Adam Cole.

Ember Moon def. Aliyah

This was a pretty sizable test for the up-and-coming Aliyah and she passed.

For whatever reason, Robert Stone’s speaking roles have been dramatically decreased in NXT in recent months.

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler def. Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai—WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Today I learned Nia Jax was Dakota Kai’s first opponent in WWE NXT.

WWE NXT really played up the butterflies and nervousness among Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in their first women’s tag team title match.

Dakota Kai was submitted despite not being the legal woman, and Adam Pearce—who ordered the referee to make the decision—may have officially turned heel for no reason.

LA Knight Appears Live

This show was filled with non-wrestling segments.

LA Knight is going to have to convince me to care during this promo because lord knows I didn’t when he was Eli Drake.

LA Knight basically cut a Revival promo without saying “no flips, just fists.”

Cameron Grimes def. Bronson Reed

I could only imagine what a Cameron Grimes Billion-Dollar Championship would look like, but I’m hoping it has at least one rocket ship.

Wade Barrett was talking up how loaded the WWE NXT North American division is (and it is), which makes it so much more jarring that its champion has been reduced to a (very entertaining) comedy character.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Cameron Grimes pick up this victory, and I hope he doesn’t lose until they’re ready to end this gimmick, which shouldn’t be anytime soon.

Legado Del Fantasma Destroys Ever-Rise

It was great to see Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma immediately get their heat back after essentially losing a three-on-one match last week. WWE doesn’t treat just any cruiserweight champion like that because Escobar is so much more.

Finn Balor vs. Roderick Strong

William Regal noted he is going to make an announcement that will “change the landscape” of WWE NXT, and I’m willing to guess it’s the WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Roderick Strong’s new theme music is so generically terrible.

These two beat the hell out of one another, and deserved all the built-in praise this Internet Wrestling Darling showcase would have received anyway.
