Black lives, they matter here. Shut it down. Coming into today I know there’s a lot of anxieties just about how this trial could go. I’m hoping that we see a man get put away for a long time, and I’m hoping that it’s just the start of people starting to see that this is a system that over time, we can change. All you got to do is do the right thing and when you put barbed wire, fencing, and concrete, it don’t look like you all about to do the right thing. We are watching. I’m with some peers and we are supposed to be in school right now. Our future is being constructed. Whatever the outcome of this trial affects all of us more than it affects older people, I think, because it’s our future that we have to live with. I feel like there’s not a huge chance that we will get justice. No justice, no peace. Prosecute police. This is about all of the people. that they have slain in the streets for no just cause. I’m down here with my sons today because it’s important for them to know that their community loves them and that we’re fighting so that their generation does not have to continue this fight. And it’s not about doing what’s right. It’s about doing what is just. And so that is what we are calling for. That is what we’re demanding. And we’re speaking those intentions here today, They lock us up and shoot us down. Ain’t no justice in this town.
