OAKLAND — A 32-year-old San Francisco man was shot during an attempted carjacking in East Oakland early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The same suspects are believed to be responsible for a successful carjacking later a few blocks away where no one was injured, authorities said.

The San Francisco man was shot about 1:38 a.m. Thursday at the Valero gas station at East 12th Street and 22nd Avenue.

He was sitting in his car which was parked near the garage area when two men tried to open the doors of the vehicle, police said. As the man drove off to escape them, several shots were fired at the vehicle with one of them hitting the man in the arm, authorities said.

The man was able to drive to a hospital where he was treated and released, police said.  Police have not said why the man was in Oakland.

Authorities said the same suspects carjacked a man about 3:14 a.m. at the Jack in the Box restaurant, 2424 International Blvd.

The man was forced out of his parked Mercedes sedan at gunpoint and it was driven off by the suspects. The man was not hurt.

Police were still looking for the suspects and the vehicle later Thursday. Detailed descriptions of the suspects have not been released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $7,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
