Things are looking bright for those who want to nab a great TV in 2023 at a substantial discount. That’s because, these days, you can usually land a great deal on a mid- or high-end TV from LG, TCL, Hisense, or Amazon’s own Fire TV brand with some regularity — even if the biggest discounts remain reserved for sales events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day, and the lead-up to the Super Bowl.

Right now, there are a number of discounted 4K TVs to choose from, spanning a wide variety of prices, size configurations, and feature sets. Whether you want a secondary TV for the bedroom or a high-end OLED that’s built for a cinema-like experience, we’ve picked out the best TV deals across some common categories.

The best 4K TV deals for most people

Hisense U8H

The Hisense U8H is a great value for a moderately priced Mini LED. The 4K TV can render some impressive peak levels of brightness and offers up to 120Hz for your gaming needs; it also supports HDMI 2.1 on two of its four ports. Plus, it supports Google TV. All of this originally started at $1,099.99, but the 65-inch Hisense U8H is selling for $897.99 (around $50 off) at Amazon.

While we haven’t officially reviewed the Hisense U8H, our own TV reviewer, Chris Welch, liked it enough to buy one for himself, and if that’s not a real recommendation, I don’t know what is.

TCL Q7 and QM8

The TCL 6-Series Mini LED TV was an easy recommendation for an affordable 4K set that punched above its weight, but it’s mostly unavailable now that TCL’s newer Q Class has arrived.

The TCL Q7 sports an LED panel that offers a native 120Hz refresh rate, with four HDMI ports (two of which are HDMI 2.1, while a third supports eARC). It normally starts at $749.99 for a 55-inch panel and goes up to $2,199.99 for an 85-incher. As for the QM8, it offers a searingly bright Mini LED panel that can reach a peak of 2,000 nits and a built-in subwoofer with a height-adjustable stand, with a native refresh rate and HDMI port setup that matches the Q7. The QM8 starts at $1,699.99 for a 65-inch model and climbs to a ridiculous $11,999.99 for a wall-covering 98-inch panel.

We haven’t reviewed the Q7 or QM8, but they look good on paper. The 55-inch Q7 is currently selling for around $548 ($150 off) at Amazon and Best Buy, while the 65-inch TCL QM8 is going for around $1,098 ($601 off) at Amazon and Best Buy. These prices have fluctuated a bit, but they’re back to matching their all-time lows.

The best 4K TV deals for those on a budget

TCL 4-Series (Roku TV model)

TCL’s 4-Series remains one of the more affordable options on the market. The 2022 model with Roku interface (the S455 variant) offers four HDMI ports — one of which supports eARC for an optional soundbar. At the same time, the LED TV continues to support HDR10, all the major streaming apps, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

The 4-Series comes in a variety of sizes, and right now, you have your choice from small to big at modest discounts. Best Buy is selling the 50-inch for $269.99 ($30 off), the 55-inch for $279.99 ($40 off), the 65-inch for $365.99 ($54 off), and the jumbo 75-inch for $557.99 ($62 off). While the 4-Series may not have the most coveted specs or highest-quality LED panel, it’s hard to deny how good of a value it offers, regardless of which size panel you choose — with the current deal on the 65-inch offering the best value right now.

Amazon Fire TV Omni (2021)

The older 2021 model of the Amazon Fire TV Omni, the precursor to the newer QLED version, is seeing some solid sales. Amazon is discounting the 65-inch Fire TV Omni to $599.99 ($160 off), exclusively for Prime members.

The 2021 Fire TV Omni didn’t wow us with its picture quality, but its aggressive pricing and deep Alexa integration, which allows for voice control even when it’s turned off, helped make up for that a bit. If you’re on a budget and aren’t allergic to Amazon pushing its own content, the Omni, at these prices, is worth a look.

Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED

Amazon’s newer Fire TV Omni QLED launched in late 2022, and we’re seeing frequent, sizable discounts. The 65-inch model debuted at $799.99 but is currently discounted to $589.99 ($210 off) at Best Buy and Amazon. We haven’t tested the new QLEDs, but it seems to build on the last-gen model with a better design. It supports Dolby Vision IQ for HDR — allowing it to adjust itself depending on the amount of ambient light — along with the same hands-free Alexa perks offered by the previous model and local dimming for more realistic lighting in scenes. The best deals on 4K TVs for the PS5 and Xbox Series X

Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X can play 4K games with HDR at up to 120 frames per second. So, naturally, if you don’t have a TV that takes full advantage of your console, it might be time to upgrade to one of the models below. Note that, for the best experience, you’ll want a TV that supports HDMI 2.1.

LG C2 OLED

If you’re looking for an impressive TV, we recommend turning your attention to LG’s 2022 C2 model. The 4K TV touts support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync variable refresh rate tech along with a 120Hz refresh rate and low input lag. It also boasts a settings pane dubbed “Game Optimizer,” which conveniently brings together a host of game-centric settings — refresh rate, latency, etc. — for quicker access.

The C2 is slowly on its way out now that the newer C3 is here to replace it, but in the meantime, the C2 is receiving frequent discounts across a variety of sizes. One of the best deals right now is on the 55-inch version, which is on sale at Amazon for $1,296.99 (about $200 off), as well as the 65-inch version, which is down to $1,596.99 ($300 off) at Amazon when you add it to your cart.

LG C3 OLED

If you can spend a bit more and want an OLED with a little more futureproofing, the newer LG C3 is now receiving some occasional discounts. The new model may not be head and shoulders better than the last-gen C2 in every way, but it’s both faster and brighter. The TV’s new processing power should make it a good TV for the long haul, as it’s less likely to slow down over the years as new updates come out, and it’s also got some nifty new picture modes to guide you through getting the look you want.

Right now, you can get the 55-inch LG C3 for $1,496.99 ($300 off) at B&H Photo and Amazon or for $1,499.99 at Best Buy. Additionally, the 65-inch C3 is selling for $1,796.99 ($700 off MSRP) at Amazon and Best Buy — though that last one was just recently on a better deal for an extra $100 off.
