The sale includes a wide selection of paintings, drawings, etchings and prints (including portraits, landscapes and stuff life scenes) to suit all homes and price-points.

Highlights from the sale includethree etchings by David Hockney, from his series ‘Illustrations for Six Fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm’ dated 1969, with an estimate of £400-£600; a series of etchings by Augustus John, with estimates of £300-£500 and a series of lithographs by Dame Elisabeth Frink with estimates from £150 upwards. Plus linocuts by Edward Bawden and two wood engravings by Eric Gill.

In celebration of the sale, Cheffins has also collaborated with block-print wallpaper designer Molly Mahon to create images which show-off the paintings against her statement wallpaper designs.

Brett Tryner from Cheffins, says: 'The new Affordable Art Sale - A Summer Show, will cater for the growing demand for quality but reasonably priced artwork. With a plethora of younger collectors coming to the market, we have seen prices steadily rise for Modern British Art and this has clearly made way for space in our calendar for a sale dedicated to this new buying force. The auction will include a series of original works and signed prints to provide something for all buyers and budgets, up to the value of around £800.'

'As the Covid crisis put a greater emphasis on our homes and the way we live, we have seen a direct correlation with the increasing number of new bidders for every sale we have offered over the past 12 months as purchasers now look to seek out individual items rather than simply turning to the High Street. This has been a real boon for regional auction houses across the country and we expect that The Affordable Art Sale will help to satisfy the demand in the market for original artwork as the trend for ‘not buying new’ continues to gather pace.'

The sale will take place at the Cheffins Cambridge salerooms in Cambridge and online.
