In fact, we find Punjabi University as the most suitable place for such courses as a wide range of subjects are being taught here. The highly qualified Faculty here in all the subjects like science, engineering, social sciences, languages, business, journalism etc is the strength of this University. The aim and objectives of the universities are to make their students employable as well as knowledgeable and learned. Both these aspects have been taken care of in the design of these new courses”.

He added, “In present times, it is necessary that we move forward in the education sector with this approach and redefine and redesign our fields of study on multidisciplinary lines. The new education policy too mentions that we move towards multidisciplinary education. The credit system being given importance all over the world fits well into this approach.”
Manjit Singh, Coordinator of the Admission Cell revealed they have got a huge response as within 24 hours of opening the portal and a large number of applications were being received.
The authorities informed that in these courses the students would be free to study the subject as an elective subject if they are interested in a subject outside their field. For example, a physics student will have the freedom to pursue music or theatre subjects too which will help them in their holistic development. In addition to the 'elective subject' option, each student will be required to take other subjects related to his/her subject for the first two semesters. For example, the students in the field of languages will be given basic knowledge of six languages like Punjabi, English, Hindi, Urdu etc. in the first year.
