MANGALURU:
Mangalore University conducted exams for undergraduate students by adhering to Covid-19 guidelines on Monday.
Students infected with
Covid were allowed to write the exam in isolation rooms in the respective colleges. There are 207 affiliated colleges coming under Mangalore University jurisdiction in
Dakshina Kannada,
Udupi and
Kodagu districts. The semester exams of undergraduate and postgraduate students scheduled in April could not be conducted due to the pandemic.
The exams for undergraduate students evoked good responses on the first day.
In the exams held for 43 subjects in the morning, 21,886 out of 23,179 attended and 1,293 remained absent. In the exams held for 20 subjects in the afternoon, 16,691 out of 17,193 students attended and 502 remained absent.
The university had already announced that separate exams will be conducted for students, especially those from
Kerala, who are not able to write exams due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Though more restrictions were in place at interstate check posts including Talapady on the national highway, students writing exams were allowed to enter after showing their hall ticket.
