Google introduces Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

Mobile
Speaker 1: In an unusual move. Google has officially introduced the pixel six and pixel six pro months before their launch scheduled for the fall. Let's take a look at them. Speaker 1: First up has completely redesigned the pixel. It has a much more modern and premium look with thin bezels everywhere. The new pixel also looks a bit boxier than [00:00:30] before the front facing camera is now centered. Instead of being off to the side, the pixel six has a 6.4 inch screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hertz. The pro is the biggest pixel ever with a 6.7 inch screen and a 120 Hertz refresh rate. Those refresh rates mean everything will look smoother when you use the new pixels. The big story is on the back. The new pixels have turned the camera bump into a camera bar. Google [00:01:00] says that it's camera system has been read, designed both versions of the pixel. Six will have a main sensor that lets in 150% more light and an ultra wide sensor. The pro adds in a telephoto sensor and a four X optical zoom. Speaker 1: This is a departure for Google as well. In the past, the pixel and pixel XL were essentially the same phone with almost identical features, except for the screen size. Those names are gone and the pro has more features than the [00:01:30] regular pixel. Google has kept its tradition of fun colors alive. With the six. One is blue with a green accent. Another is pink with a darker accent. And then there's a more basic black version. They're surrounded by a matte metal band. The pro line is a bit more understated with black, white and yellowish models. The pros also get a glossy metal band around them. These pixels have glass backs, but you won't find a fingerprint sensor there like you did on previous pixel models. That fingerprint reader is now under [00:02:00] the display. Speaker 1: New pixels are powered by Google's new chip tensor in the past. Google has made co-processor, but tensor is the company's first mobile system on a chip. Google said that off the shelf components were not cutting it. So they had to build a full technology platform themselves. They spent four years developing this tensor runs Google's AI and machine learning. It also has Google's most frequently used software [00:02:30] algorithms encoded in the hardware. What does that mean for you? Or Google says you'll get better photos, better video and offline speech capabilities. Let's break that down. When you take a photo, the pixel will take two images from its cameras and more urge them together. Tensor will handle the computational photography. That means it'll handle face detection and sense motion. Tensor will figure out if your hand and or your subject is moving and error, correct. To get a sharper picture. Speaker 1: All of that [00:03:00] stuff should be happening at once. We'll have to see how quickly tensor performs. When we get our hands on the new pixels. Google says that tensor will let the pixel apply its machine learning to videos. In fact, the company said that when designing tensor one of its purposes was to raise overall video quality. The system on a chip was also designed from the ground up to support speech Google's highest quality models are on the device. The company said it would be of similar quality to that you would [00:03:30] get from its data centers. Since those models are on the device, they work. Even when you're offline, that means you should see really asked dictation. Tensor also makes it possible to handle simultaneous translation and captioning all while offline, that share seems like a lot of power what's that gonna do to battery life? Speaker 1: Now Google says that it has been able to reduce power consumption of high quality models by 50%. That's five zero. Again, this is think we'll have [00:04:00] to test out in the future. Well, what about pricing? Well, Google says these are premium products that will be in the premium range of smartphone pricing. So that gives us an idea. Full details will be coming in the fall. When the pixel six and pixel six per launch, you should definitely subscribe and hit that notification bell because we'll be covering that. When happens personally, I'm quite impressed that Google is taking the step of just showing off these devices instead of ignoring the leaks. Google just said, Hey, why don't you look at my pixels? [00:04:30] Well done. I'm Maya Zachar and I'll see you online.
