Gators Add Elijah Kennedy for 2021-22

Kennedy will be the third Gator from "The 757" to play at Florida under Mike White.
Florida men's basketball has added shooting guard Elijah Kennedy from Virginia Beach, Virginia, who will join the team as a freshman for the 2021-22 season.

Kennedy helped Green Run High School to a shared state championship in 2020 and a state runner-up finish in 2021. He was the VHSCA Class 5 State Player of the Year in 2021 and notched a 37-point outing with nine 3-pointers in a single game during the 2021 regionals, then went for 27 in the state semifinals and 21 in the state championship game.

Kennedy will be the third Gator from "The 757" to play at UF for head coach Mike White, along with Dorian Finney-Smith (Portsmouth) and Keyontae Johnson (Roanoke). The 6-foot-4 left-hander, who is regarded as one of the "purest shooters in the state" according to The Virginian Pilot, played under head coach Kenneth Harris and assistant coach Rod Cooper at Green Run.

Kennedy joins Kowacie Reeves for the Gators' 2021 incoming freshman class, along with a quartet of transfers new to the Florida program this season.
