GAINESVILLE, Fla. – As the 2021 football season approaches, the Gators are set to open fall camp with the first practice taking place Friday, Aug. 6.
Players report Thursday, Aug. 5 ahead of the camp that will culminate Sunday, Aug. 22.
The Gators posted an 8-4 overall record during the 2020 campaign, which featured one of UF's most prolific offense in recent memory. Florida finished the season ranked ninth nationally in total offense, averaging 509.8 yards per game.
Florida's offensive veteran returners for the 2021 campaign include wide receivers
Jacob Copeland and
Justin Shorter, running backs
Dameon Pierce and
Malik Davis, and tight ends
Kemore Gamble and
Keon Zipperer, among others.
Defensively, Florida returns junior cornerback
Kaiir Elam, linebackers
Ventrell Miller,
Amari Burney and
Mohamoud Diabate, defensive lineman Zach Carter and pass rushers
Jeremiah Moon and Brenton Cox, Jr.
The Gators will open the 2021 season Sept. 4 when they host the FAU Owls at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
