NordPass For Linux

The market for password managers was pretty much set in stone not that long ago. Then, out of the blue and quite boldly, came NordPass into what was a very saturated market.

It didn't take too long for NordPass to swiftly make its way to the top of the market, and what it lacks in popularity, it more than makes up in reputation, features, and general user appeal.

If the name sounds familiar, that's because NordPass was developed by pretty much the same cybersecurity team that created one of the best VPNs out there, namely NordVPN.

Despite not offering as many advanced features as its competitors (stuff like collaboration features, sharing options in an enterprise environment, and so forth), NordPass ticks a lot of boxes for a wide range of users.

For starters, it has a very stylish and user-friendly GUI. NordPass is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as Android, and iOS. It also has bespoke browser extensions for Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and they all work well together.

With the paid plans, you can use NordPass on up to six devices (which is enough for most day-to-day users and most families), it has all the security credentials a top password manager needs to have, all sorts of useful features such as a data breach scanner, a few password sharing options, and a very attractive free plan.

Of course, its stylish clients are appealing to most users, and, of course, the pricing is also something that brings in new users each month, but what everyone wants from a password manager is security.

Thankfully, this is one of NordPass' main selling points. It has one of the most sophisticated encryption systems backed up by a couple of extra features.

NordPass doesn't rely on the standard AES-256 encryption algorithm to protect your passwords but instead offers a more modern xChaCha20 encryption protocol (that is allegedly not only faster than the standard AES-256, but also more secure).

It also matters that NordPass is offered by the child company of NordVPN, which already has a stellar reputation when it comes to security.

By now, it should be quite clear why NordPass was and still is such a hit. It has all the security credentials and backings a password manager could dream of, it's remarkably user-friendly, it doesn't lack any standard features, and it's competitively priced.

Is NordPass good enough to make old-time users of other password managers pass over?

Only time will tell since, after all, choosing the perfect password manager is a very personal thing. Users who want access to the latest and best encryption protocol for their passwords might make the switch, while users who require integrations with other services and unique advanced features in business or enterprise environments probably won't.

At the end of the day, NordPass' success was achieved on its own merits. When it comes to choosing a password manager for day-to-day users who want the ease of use and ultimate security, there's (currently) no other product that's better than NordPass.
