Thursday fantasy open thread: Which Lions-Rams player will outperform their projections?

Sigh.

And here we are. The Detroit Lions are who we expected them to be, and the Los Angeles Rams are living up to their hype as well, just on the complete other side of the spectrum. No one is surprised, especially within either front office. After all, the big offseason deal was made to solidify these trajectories.

Still, it does not make life any less painful to see the former face of the franchise find instant success somewhere else while unsuccessfully trying to piece together a roster led by someone else’s discarded leftovers. Oh well. Reminder: the below scoring includes 6pt TDs and 0.5 PPR.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Which Lions-Rams player will outperform their projections?

  • D’Andre Swift (14.1 pts): 43 rush yd, 5.2 rec, 42 rec yd, 0.5 TD
  • Amon Ra St. Brown (7.9 pts): 4.6 rec, 50 rec yd, 0.1 TD
  • Matthew Stafford (27.1 pts): 308 pass yd, 2.7 TD, 0.7 Int
  • Cooper Kupp (18.5 pts): 7.0 rec, 96 rec yd, 0.9 TD

My answer: Sometimes the headlines just write themselves. Stafford enters the revenge game with gaudy projections that are 100 percent justified. In fact, it would be a pretty big surprise if he did not surpass 300 yards. That means that Kupp should be able to clear his lofty projections as well, despite being set at nearly 100 yards and a score.

Meanwhile in Detroit, Swift has solidified himself as the top weapon, despite still sharing carries. This is because he has actually racked up more receiving yards than on the ground in every game this season, and the projections are picking up on that. Eventually, a receiver will need to join Swift as a passing threat, and perhaps St. Brown is making that jump. The rookie has yet to find the end zone, but he is averaging six catches over his past three games.

Your turn.
