This article is more than 2 years old.

New York City is a special place any time of year, but during the holidays it has a particular cachet. The tree in Rockefeller Center, the festive décor throughout the city and a snow dusted Central Park makes for a unique holiday getaway. This season, with space and wellness still top of mind for most travelers, the new Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards is an appealing accommodation to choose for a December trip to New York City. Here are five reasons why you should book a stay at the Equinox Hotel this month.

1)   Chic Design

After almost two years of being cooped up at home, taking a road trip to New York City could be just the thing to ring in the holidays with some cheer—so why not stay somewhere just as momentous? The Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards features striking architectural details including a commanding exterior, stylish dark tones throughout the interior and modern minimalist rooms and suites. The entire hotel feels ergonomic in design, everything from the floor to ceiling windows, heated bathroom floors, relaxing color scheme and interesting light fixtures, create a calming presence, which is exactly what we all need this time of year.

2)   The Spa

Of course, this being an Equinox property, the onsite wellness facilities are going to be top notch. Not only is there one of the most well-equipped Equinox gyms on site, but there is also a world class spa available for guest use as well. In addition to a spa treatment menu filled with things like a ‘Gold Collagen Facial’ and an ‘Illuminating Body Treatment’, techno-treatments like cryotherapy are recommended to guests who are traveling for both business and pleasure. After three minutes in the cryotherapy chamber, which gets down to temperatures of around -150 degrees, you will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and recharged—talk about a treatment in a ‘New York minute’! So even if you don’t have the time to commit to one of the luxurious 90-minute spa treatments, surely you can treat yourself to a 3-minute jumpstart!

And afterwards, why not check out the insta-famous outdoor pool, which just so happens to overlook the other popular photo spot in Hudson Yards—the Vessel.

3)   In-room Wellness Amenities

There is never a shortage of reasons to skip the gym, which is why Equinox Hotels has thought of everything when it comes to in room wellness amenities. Each room comes with a yoga mat, stretch band and yoga blocks. Guests can also “rent” workout clothes, shoes, and socks. So even if you left all your gear at home, you could take full advantage of all the facilities on site in some stylish Equinox-branded clothes.

4)   Location

Hudson Yards is New York’s newest neighborhood and features all kinds of goodies. The shops at Hudson Yards is decked out for the holidays, so even if you are just interested in some window shopping, it is worth a visit. And on your way back to the hotel, take a minute to gawk at the Vessel, which while it isn’t open for visitors to climb it right now, is surely worthy of a quick picture or two to document your trip to one of the coolest places in the city right now.

5)   New York City is Back Bigger and Better Than Before

Last but not least, the Equinox Hotel is a perfect home base for exploring all that New York City has to offer this holiday season. Take in sweeping views of the entire city at the new Summit One Vanderbilt. This new attraction offers views of the Empire State Building, Central Park and the entire city skyline from its mirrored observation decks. Guests also have the option of stepping out onto two enclosed glass ledges located 1,063 feet above Madison Avenue, riding in the world’s largest exterior glass-floor elevator to the highest viewpoint location in Midtown or dining in the rooftop eatery ‘Apres.’

Afterwards head Downtown for brunch at Amigo for a gastronomic take on modern Mexican cuisine. The drinks are fantastically balanced, the dishes offer a smart combination of flavors, everything is prepared to perfection and made with fresh ingredients—you will want to taste the whole menu, you can’t go wrong here.

Finally, the magic of New York City is alive and well so savor your time in the city that never sleeps with a little live jazz and cocktails in a place that is as New York as it comes—the Campbell at Grand Central Terminal. Every Saturday is jazz night, and you can expect a live jazz trio in this historic bar—in fact it was once the office of the Jazz Age financier John W. Campbell and retains the charm of the swinging Twenties.
